Was I born with a hole in my heart
A fatal fault at the start
Tell me it's inevitable that I end up with scars
From falling down, down
We were always meant to fall apart

Don't be weird to me please.

She is open for shipping, only with Dazai. Mun must be 18+ to ship with me. If there comes a time where there's somehow multiple dazai's they'll all be in different universes (lol)

I pretty much match length when it comes to writing, I have reached novella length but I do this for fun now.. I won't write a bible unless i get incredibly locked in. I prefer not to go below 3 paragraphs when writing a serious plot. semi-lit is fine for funny interactions and stuff.

personality At first glance, Shikin can appear rather stoic and uptight. However, once that exterior is removed she’s quite the opposite. Shikin is quite kindhearted, perhaps too much. She goes out of her way to help others— like helping old ladies cross the street, or helping a shop owner haul in heavy boxes from the road. Even though sometimes that kindheartedness is to her detriment, she’s keen on helping those that need it. She is very caring towards the younger members of the Agency, almost motherly. Often, she will cook entire bentos to bring just for them so that they don’t have to worry about buying it.Despite her kindheartedness, she gets irritated easily and is quite the prime target for teasing. She is also very driven by her own morals, a real stickler for the rules— perhaps influenced by her past.Deep down, she struggles greatly. The weight of her past is sometimes far too much to bare, leaving her with the mental scars to show, as well as a physical one on her back left shoulder. There will occasionally be stretches of days where she seems off; or uses the excuse of feeling ill to stay home. But in reality it’s a bout of depression. When she’s emotionally overwhelmed or distressed she tends to isolate herself. She's not good at opening up to others, which is why only the President, Yosano and Ranpo know of her past (seemingly). Shikin has alot of problems with understanding her self worth and despises looking at herself in the mirror. All she usually sees staring back at her is a cursed demon, one unworthy of living.

KYOTO, KITAYAMA MOUNTAINS
京都北山
history (condensed for brevity)
In a small traditional village north of Kyoto in the Kitayama mountains named Komatsubari, a child was born beneath the blood moon. Her mother, Akane Shikin was a shrine maiden.Just moments after her birth, the superstitious villagers began labeling her as a bad omen. Shimizu Shikin’s early childhood was somewhat calm, despite the disgusted looks the villagers gave her as she passed them, or the children her age that would push her into the rice fields while on the way to school. On her days off, she would be taught how to pray by her mother. Ones that usually involved apologizing to the gods and repenting for being born on a blood moon. When she wasn’t trying to apologize for her existence, her father would teach her how to swing a wooden sword. He came from a long line of samurai and blacksmiths alike, hoping to one day gift her the family heirloom— The blade of the moon's shadow. A beautiful katana worthy of such a name.Around the time she was twelve, crops died and a drought; one of Komatsubari’s worst occurred. Not to mention cows being found deceased with large claw marks across their midsections. Naturally, this was all Shikin’s fault. The child of misfortune, the one the gods were angry at! In reality, some of the cows were her fault. Activating her ability unintentionally in the dead of night. The other half of the cows..? Merely a setup by the fearful villagers to have even more of an excuse to shun her. Of course in rural areas, especially small villages like Komatsubari– No one knew about abilities. To them, she was cursed. To appease the gods, they locked the girl away in a shrine. Her parents, although hesitant and remorseful, still did nothing to stop it. Perhaps out of fear of their own daughter. The devils child, some called her. Others prayed solely for the gods to spare the village from their wrath for letting such a cursed being exist. Her parents still visited her occasionally, bringing her food and fresh kimonos, reminding her to do her daily prayers. No longer did she have freedom, she was merely a prisoner of fate. A reality that she didn't even fully understand.Shikin’s mother slowly began to deteriorate mentally. Unable to cope with her only daughter being plagued with misfortune and isolation, she slowly began caving under the pressure, mostly from the village elders. Shikin was isolated in the shrine until she was 16– spending much of her time reading the books and magazines that were given to her. Many about the outside world, one she could never experience for herself. On one foggy evening, everything changed. Shikins mother visited her— looking far more worn down than usual. She led Shikin through her prayers, and as the girl had her hands clasped, looking down at the altar with her eyes closed, Akane Shikin drove a knife right into the child’s shoulder. What happened next was quite a blur to Shikin. She activated her ability purely on instinct, the demon in her heart going out of control. Perhaps Shikin blanked it out— perhaps it was her own mind protecting her. But when she woke up, all she could smell was iron and ash. Around her was quite a gruesome sight. The bodies of villagers laid on the ground. It was a Massacre. She didn’t know how long she’d been kneeling there, staring at the blood on her hands with a blank stare, body trembling.Eventually, two men showed up. Detectives apparently. Supposed to investigate the case of local rumors plaguing the region, one of the more wealthy families had commissioned it. Supposedly ability related, although she had no idea of such matters. Instead, they found a terrified girl trembling in the rubble and amongst the corpses of her village. Ranpo understood almost immediately— Fukuzawa was as stone faced as ever, but understood one thing. She was just a child, one that was plagued with misfortune and circumstance.A child with a dangerous ability.Of course, the government assessed her to be too dangerous to let free. She’d just massacred an entire village with her out of control ability after all. But, Fukuzawa saw something different. A terrified, utterly remorseful child. One who had suggested taking her own life because of what she’d done. He couldn’t let the government lock her away and keep her chained like some rabid beast, or execute her. He negotiated with the special division, offered to take her under his wing and let her join the Armed Detective agency on the condition that if her ability went out of control one more time, the government would have the right to do as they wished— execution or imprisonment. Due to the circumstances surrounding her upbringing, they agreed. The massacre was covered up, a natural disaster. However, before the division did so, the port mafia got ahold of her file, ready to swoop in and take her for her ability. Fukuzawa taking her under his wing seemed to stop that though. It still stands that certain executives & possibly even Mori Ougai himself knew of her ability and past.Healing was slow for Shikin, she barely talked in the first month that she arrived at the agency. She was put on simple cases, shadowing under Ranpo and anyone that she could. Eventually, she regained a sense of normalcy. Although, the transition between living in a small village with almost no electricity to living in Yokohama was quite jarring. She was clumsy with technology and not very street smart as she had only been to Kyoto a few times previously. Which is precisely why she can be quite naive when it comes to the silliest things.5 years later, at the current point in time. Shikin is a hardworking member of the agency, hardened on the outside yet kind and soft on the inside. She may seem strict or rude at times but she means well. She often cooks bento for the younger members of the agency and really looks after them. She doesn't use her ability unless absolutely necessary, opting to use her katana or the martial arts Fukuzawa taught her.

ABILITY

Kokoro no oni (Devil in the heart). Essentially she has a “demon” in her heart that takes control of her body when her ability is activated. The “demon” is really just the darkest part of her heart, the one that’s violent and senseless. She tends to refer to the demon as “her” or “she” even though it’s really just her— the part of her that she doesn’t want to acknowledge. When activated, a translucent flame-like set of horns appear on her head as well as a red flame forming over her heart. In this state, her physical strength and speed is increased. She’s able to channel the demon flames into her weapon— in most cases her katana. When the demon in her heart is speaking, she often uses a much more god-like cadence. Completely different from how Shikin speaks. When the ability is activated, Shikin sees things in an almost dream-like perspective and she’s not completely in control. Although, thanks to Fukuzawa’s ability “All men are created equal” she’s since been able to control her ability much better. Typically, when it’s activated she’s able to stay completely conscious.
Shikin has more strength than a typical person. For example, she's able to pick Dazai up almost effortlessly- though thats about the max extent of it when her ability isn't active.

Osamu Dazai
Colleague
Outwardly, Shikin sees Dazai as an annoyance. He teases her often and really gets under her skin. Unsettlingly enough, he seems to see right through her, shattering all of her defenses. The best way to describe how she acts around dazai is a tsundere. Whenever they have serious conversations she finds that he understands her better than anyone. He seems to have a real penchant for making Shikin flustered as well, her face turns as red as a tomato.Shikin is utterly terrified of her ability and thus finds comfort in Dazai with his nullification.

Nakajima Atsushi
Colleague
Shikin has a real soft spot for the younger members of the agency, Atsushi included. Even though he's an adult, she still makes sure to make him a bento whenever she makes some for the younger members. The best way to describe their dynamic is that she thinks of him like a younger brother. She is always looking out for him.

Akiko Yosano
Colleague
Yosano is one of Shikins anchors. She understands a lot of what Shikin struggles with and helped her adjust to Yokohama when she first arrived. She views Yosano as an older sister, much like how she sees Ranpo as an older brother. She tends to go to Yosano with girl issues and sometimes they gossip about things. They go on shopping trips together and find cute cafe's to try.

Yukichi Fukuzawa
Boss
He saw her at her worst and still decided to help her. Shikin is forever indebted to Fukuzawa. He is much like a father to her, his advice always stays within the forefront of her mind and she respects him deeply.

Izumi Kyouka
Colleague
Kyouka reminds Shikin of herself in many ways. Much like Atsushi, she views her as a younger sibling. She hopes to impart valuable knowledge and help her when needed. Shikin often spoils her, buying her bunny related items whenever she sees them. She also makes sure that Kyouka has everything she needs.

Doppo Kunikida
Colleague
Kunikida, much like her, is a stickler for the rules. Whenever Shikin has technological issues (which is a lot) he's always there to help her. They respect each other and share a fondness for hitting Dazai over the head when he acts up.

Edogawa Ranpo
Colleague
Shikin respects Ranpo almost as much as she does Fukuzawa. His intelligence never fails to amaze her, he often is able to tell when something is wrong with shikin by no more than a glance. He is like an older brother to her, their dynamic speaks for itself. sometimes, he will share candy with her. keyword, sometimes. She knows that when he does, that it is very special.

Yukito Ayatsuji
acquaintance...?
Due to shikins ties to the special division via monitoring, it would seem that these two have come into contact with each other a few times whilst shikin does favors for the division. Shikin gets kind of creeped out by him in the way that her hairs stand up on the back of her neck.

PM! Shikin
PM au Shikin is basically if Fukuzawa and Ranpo didn’t end up taking on the case that would bring them to her village.. The same massacre happens but this time she’s found by the government and scheduled to be transferred to the special division. intel slips into the PM about her ability and they ambush the transport carrier she’s being taken in and steal her essentially.. She’s very quiet and reluctant, doesn’t speak at all for months (this happened in the agency timeline too). She gets trained by Verlaine and essentially becomes an operative that’s used specifically for killing because her ability is so efficient for it. She gains a reputation within the port mafia and everyone is scared or creeped out by her, thus no one talks to her. Her moniker is ‘Massacre Demon’She met Dazai because she’d have to report to him quite a lot, and sometimes her work required killing people for information. She’s always very stoic and has a very dull look to her eyes. Like they’re lifeless basically. Bags under her eyes because she doesn’t sleep well and barely communicates or speaks with anyone. But Dazai wants to find out what makes her tick. She is close to absolutely nobody and keeps her distance from everyone. (Mainly out of fear that her ability will go out of control. There was likely an incident at some point where it did and she slaughtered literally everyone on the mission (PM people included)The Port Mafia has her tightly in their grasp, so of course she puts up with Dazai. Though I feel like he’d take pity on her deep down. She struggles a lot with her identity, questioning what even makes someone human— The way people look at her before she ends their life makes her contemplate it even more. She views herself as a monster, plain and simple. She will do subtle things sometimes like use her non dominant hand for fighting or purposefully giving herself some kind of handicap, merely so that she has a larger chance of failing a mission— even though she never has. Anyone that’s observant enough probably notices it.Along the way her and Dazai become friends in a sense. He’s the only one who’s tried to understand her on a deeper level, beneath her cold and unfeeling demeanor. Deep down she’s not like that, she wants connection and she wants a better life for herself but she’s stuck by her circumstances. She has nowhere to go besides the port mafia and she has no life waiting for her either. When Dazai leaves the port mafia she feels like he left her behind and loathes him for it, but deep down she realizes how much his absence has left a dark pit in her heart. She has nothing anymore, no worth besides how many people she can successfully kill for the Port Mafia. The time that Dazai next sees her, she’s probably insanely different. Selectively mute, looks like she hasn’t slept right in weeks, a certain kind of unkemptness to her appearance that’s atypical. No hesitation when it comes to taking lives. Manipulated to feel like he betrayed not just the port mafia, but HER.
